Message from the President

Dear Friends and Colleagues:
When a new year begins, it is customary to look back and reflect on the year that has just ended. As I reflect on 2010, I am pleased to report that, with your support, it was a very successful year for Kids’ Chance of Pennsylvania.
Our most significant accomplishment was awarding forty-eight (48) scholarships totaling $121,000 to deserving students for the 2010-2011 academic year. These scholarships continue to be possible thanks to the generous contributions made by our Scholars Program Sponsors, Corporate and Community Partners, Kids’ Advisors, and individual donors. I encourage you to read the students’ letters, expressing in their own words the difference that Kids’ Chance has made in their lives.
Our annual fund-raising events continue to enjoy tremendous support and much success. In 2010 Kids’ Chance of PA hosted our 5th Annual Golf Outing and Recognition Event in Hershey, the 3rd Annual Walk/Run in Harrisburg, and the 2nd Annual Walk/Run in Philadelphia. The walk/runs were expanded to include a 10k, which attracted many new participants in both locations. These events, in addition to numerous events held by some wonderful partner organizations we call our Kids’ Advisors, raised significant scholarship funds while increasing community awareness of the Kids’ Chance mission.
As we look forward to 2011, Kids’ Chance of PA and our Board of Directors are more committed than ever to our mission. We continue to be inspired by the determination and accomplishment of the students we help. One student writes, “I cannot even begin to express have much you have touched my family and my life through this scholarship.” We may be touching students’ lives, but in turn their stories and their successes continue to touch and enrich ours immeasurably. I hope to see you soon at one of our 2011 events.
Finally, all of this would not be possible without the generous support of our Corporate and Community Partners, Scholar Sponsors, Kids’ Advisors, and many donors who provide contributions to fund our scholarships. Thank you for your continued support of Kids’ Chance of Pennsylvania.
