Pennsylvania Governor Edward G. Rendell enthusiastically states, "It gives me great pleasure and pride to join with the staff, supporters, friends and children who have been positively influenced by Kids' Chance of Pennsylvania in celebration of a decade of inspiration and assistance. . .I thank you for all of your efforts to give Pennsylvania's most treasured resource-our youth-a brighter tomorrow."
Announcing the 10th anniversary of Kids' Chance of Pennsylvania, Inc., President Suzanne Emmet said, "The hardships to children and families created by the death or serious disability of a parent often include financial ones, making it difficult for deserving young people to pursue their educational dreams. For 10 years, Kids' Chance of PA has proudly made a significant difference in the lives of affected Pennsylvania families by providing scholarship support to help eligible students pursue and achieve their higher education goals."
The mission of Kids' Chance of PA is to provide financial support for college and vocational education, through scholarship grants, to children of Pennsylvania workers who have been killed or seriously injured in a work-related accident resulting in financial need. Since 1997, scholarship grants totaling $369,750 have been awarded to 263 deserving students who are attending post-secondary educational institutions. A decade of achievement is being recognized since the organization awarded its first scholarship to an Erie, PA student attending Harvard University!
