ACE Charitable Foundation
Kids’ Chance Scholars Program Sponsor

Since the ACE Charitable Foundation began funding ACE Scholarship Awards in 2003, Kids’ Chance of Pennsylvania has awarded 22 grants to outstanding students for up to four years of their academic careers. ACE Scholars have attended a variety of prestigious schools including Boston University, the University of Pittsburgh, New York University and Duquesne University.

We asked Eden Kratchman, Executive Director of the ACE Charitable Foundation, to provide our readers with insights into ACE Group’s selection of Kids’ Chance of Pennsylvania for inclusion in its philanthropic efforts:

What about Kids' Chance attracted the interest of the ACE Charitable Foundation?

We were struck by this organization’s mission of supporting students and assisting in furthering their education—when they otherwise may not have had the chance due to financial constraints.

What is the mission of the ACE Charitable Foundation?

ACE Group’s philanthropic focus is to cultivate a lasting and sustainable impact on local communities where its employees live and work. ACE strives to accomplish this through its philanthropic arm, the ACE Charitable Foundation, by focusing the majority of its funds on clearly defined projects in the following areas: Education, Environment, Poverty and Health. Particular consideration is given to opportunities where ACE employees’ time and expertise can be utilized in addition to financial support.

What other educational missions does ACE embrace?

ACE embraces the opportunity for underserved students to have access to education through financial support. We also support student outreach, and curriculum-enhancing programs in public school districts targeted to underserved youth.

Another category under education is support for initiatives oriented toward the insurance risk management sciences.

On the international front, ACE supports education and retraining initiatives for those individuals who have been displaced by globalization.

Describe ACE Group's activities in workers compensation as it relates to Kids’ Chance.

Kid’s Chance in Pennsylvania was founded to provide post-secondary scholarships to children of Pennsylvania workers who have been killed or catastrophically injured in a work-related accident, and in many instances that accident has resulted in a financial hardship for families. ACE Group understands the impact of work-related accidents on families. ACE’s support of the “Kid’s Chance” scholarship program was intended to make a lasting, positive impact in our community by providing financial assistance to selected children of Pennsylvania workers who have been directly impact by their parents’ death or disability.
