Scholarships

To be eligible for a scholarship grant, applicants must have a parent who has been killed or seriously injured as a result of a work related accident that meets the criteria of the Pennsylvania Workers' Compensation Act and that has resulted in demonstrated financial need. Applicants must be within the ages of 16 to 25 and be accepted by an accredited, post-secondary educational institution. Graduate students are not eligible to apply.

Since its inception in 1997, Kids' Chance of PA has awarded scholarships to approximately 263 deserving student applicants throughout Pennsylvania totaling $369,750. The number and amount of scholarship grants awarded by Kids' Chance of PA each year is dependent upon the number and eligibility of students who apply and available funds. Awarded have been grants ranging from $500 to $5000.

Some scholarship recipients are awarded additional grants through our partnership with PATH, a program of the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) and American Educational Services, Kids' Chance of PA also accesses matching educational grants for Kids' Chance of PA scholarship recipients with remaining unmet financial need. For 2006-2007, Kid’s Chance of PA’s 3rd year of partnership with PATH, over $15,000 in matching grants were given to 15 eligible scholarship recipients with remaining unmet financial need. The future generosity of Kids' Chance of PA donors will allow us to continue to leverage additional student grants through PATH.

Additionally, top applicants demonstrating both exceptional academic promise and significant financial need, may benefit from special scholarship awards provided through a generous ACE INA Foundation grant. (See the list of recipients for this year's ACE INA scholars.)
